The Edge Racing team is designed to have 360-degree expertise and involvement--the team selecting the horses is the same team managing their progress and communicating with you along the way. It's the same team building relationships with trainers and looking out for the best interest of the horse, and the same team you’re talking to on the phone and meeting at events. Driven by a passion for the sport, deep-rooted care for the horses, and the best interest of our owners, the Edge Racing team is by your side through every phase of ownership.

What to Expect

With this type of ownership, you can expect a smaller group of co-owners, more frequent opportunities to visit your horse in person, and VIP experiences on race day (details below!). Please note that there are limited spots available in Edge Racing offerings, but the team is continuously on the hunt for new horses. Edge owners will be responsible for their pro-rata portion of the ongoing care and maintenance of the horse and payments are due quarterly. Edge owners are also required to verify accreditation status, a process that our Edge Management team will gladly walk you through.
As an Edge owner, you can expect a more intimate experience as the ownership groups average 10-15 people. With a group this size, you’ll have an opportunity to enjoy barn access, meet your horse and trainer, go into the paddock on race day and enjoy other boutique VIP experiences.
Edge racing does not currently use the same platform as MyRacehorse. You’ll be in direct contact with a dedicated member of the Edge Management team and updates on your horse as well as race day details communicated through email and regularly scheduled zoom calls.

Michael Behrens

FOUNDER & CEO

Michael Behrens is the Founder and CEO of MyRacehorse and is dedicated on a day to day basis of fulfilling his vision of providing every fan the opportunity to experience the thrills of racehorse ownership irrespective of budget. Although most of his hours are spent working on legal, regulatory, marketing, finance and general strategy for the business, his self admittedly best days are at the track with the ownership groups cheering on the MRH horses on race day.
Prior to launching MyRacehorse Behrens was a marketing executive with agency and brand experience developing and optimizing large performance based marketing plans. Behrens led marketing strategy and execution for 100+ top domestic companies; from successful startups to Fortune 500 companies, managing in excess of $800 million in media dollars. Most recently Behrens was the CMO of Casper, one of the fastest growing direct to consumer brands ever, generating over $600 million in sales in three years.
Joe Moran

RACING MANAGER
On a daily basis you will find Joe at either Santa Anita, San Luis Rey, or Los Alamitos. His primary responsibilities are keeping MyRacehorse shareholders informed of their horses schedules and updates on a regular basis. He also is a member of the horse acquisition team along with supporting several client relation tasks.
His father, a lifelong owner and breeder on the California circuit gave Joe his first introduction to horses at a young age. There was no looking back as Joe’s passion and love for thoroughbreds only continued to grow. Any free time Joe had was spent at the Mark Glatt barn, farm or sales. Over time he began helping his father more and more with their operation from claiming, managing, yearling and two year old sales.
When his college baseball career came to an end, he went straight to the backside working for trainer Andy Mathis at Del Mar to further his hands on experience with thoroughbreds. Prior to joining MyRacehorse, Joe started as a hot walker then moved on as a groom shortly after.
Brian DiDonato

HEAD OF OPERATIONS
A native of Wethersfield, CT, Brian attended Connecticut College, where he majored in Philosophy and minored in English with an eye towards going to law school... until the horses got in the way. Having gone to Saratoga with his family growing up, he rediscovered the sport while at school, and immersed himself in studying the complicated art and science of handicapping. Brian got his first experience working in racing through a summer press box internship back at prestigious Saratoga and, after that, law school was pretty much off the table.
He graduated in 2009, and subsequently joined the editorial staff of the Thoroughbred Daily News. Brian's racing education continued from there, and he gained additional and significant exposure to all facets of the sport while writing for the horse business’s leading daily publication.
Brian subsequently got involved in horse ownership with pieces of pinhooks and as a small syndicate investor, and in 2017 started his own bloodstock advisory and syndication business. He brings a combination of communication skills and bloodstock and pedigree knowledge to the Edge team, which he joined at the beginning of 2022.
Brian lives with his wife Rachel and son Adrian in Derby City, Louisville, KY.
Nick "The Sarge" Hines

ADVISOR
Nick Hines, affectionately known as “The Sarge,” has been involved with the sport of Thoroughbred horse racing his entire life. Nick has served many roles in the industry including trainer, racing manager, bloodstock agent, and TVG analyst.
Nick advises MyRacehorse on a number of industry matters and serves as a member of the horse acquisition team. Nick is also the lead for MRH Live, a show designed for shareholder engagement which covers many topics including horse updates and race day analysis.
A native of Las Vegas, Nick learned how to read the Daily Racing Form at the age of nine, was born into the industry through his late father, Michael Hines, an attorney, horse owner, and former Nevada State Racing Commissioner whose passion for the horse racing game was highly contagious.
Some of Nick’s career highlights include teaming up with his good friend Craig Dollase to win the 1998 Hollywood Park training title and Breeders’ Cup Sprint with Reraise and managing a number of Grade 1 performers for Southern Equine Stables including his namesake Salute the Sarge.
Nick resides in Los Angeles with his wife Michelle and son Cash.
